We had a great photoshoot yesterday with one of our favorite models, Elizabeth. Even better, we got to shoot her in two of our favorite headbands, the Majestic Paisley Turban Headband and the Filtered Rainbow Headband. Enjoy these outtakes!

The Guardian’s “Green Living Blog” did an interesting article on the fashion industry’s reluctance to adopt ethical and environmentally responsible manufacturing policies. It seems to be an issue that concerns more and more consumers. Here at Andrea’s Beau all of our products are manufactured right here in the United States. The women who hand assemble every order earn a fair wage and enjoy comfortable working conditions. Yes, we’re often undercut by competitors sourcing cheap overseas labor, but we’re proud of way we run our business - we wouldn’t have it any other way.
As you may already know, Andrea has for many years designed a hugely successful line of fun girls’ accessories. We spotted her “Faux Fur Headband” in this month’s Earnshaw’s. They’re the authoritative publication when it comes to children’s wear so we’re always flattered to find our products in their magazine.
Someone dug this oldie but goody up the other day. Mary Louise Parker in our Gossamer Flower Salon Clip.
Michael Bastian’s videos for Gant never cease to amaze. They’re the perfect way to inspire your seasonal style, whether you’re male or female. This one is for Fall/Winter 2011.
H&M occasionally puts out a dynamite magazine full of great editorial pieces, style advice etc. I was flipping through it here at the office and came across this brief piece called “Town and Country”, highlighting the merits of fall styles a la the Ivy League and the British countryside.
Greet fall with elegant, yet preppy classics that evoke the 1970 romantic college drama Love Story, with its New England Ivy League setting, or the British countryside, with all its hunting and equestrian inspired looks. Choose warm neutrals and materials, such as tweed, corduroy, suede and denim…
I may be stating the obvious, but you really can’t go wrong with an elegant sporting getup. Now, they don’t make explicit mention of hair accessories, but they can be used - how so you say? Take a look…
Elizabeth in our “Vintage Velvet Daisy Headband” for our Fall/Winter 2011 collection. She’s wearing a tweed blazer by Brooks Brothers and dark jeans, and, well, she looks awesome.

It’s Ornamental, My Dear
The beauty news at the fall couture shows rested squarely on top reports JENNIFER WEIL from backstage.
Hair accessories had their crowning moment - both literally and figuratively - during the fall 2011 couture season. At Valentino, Guido Palau topped models’ low-slung, wispy buns with delicate tiaras spangled with tiny metallic flowers. ”It’s like a Russian princess,” he said, of the look.
Plucky plumages of all shapes, sizes and colors featured extensively in hairstyles by Odile Gilbert for both Alexis Mabille and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Franco Gobbi gleaned sinspiration from geishas at Giorgio Armani Prive, but it wasn’t too literal a rendition. Instead, he injected a modern, androgynous rock ‘n’ roll quality to the sleek style that was topped with whimsical hats and fascinators by Philip Treacy.
Geometric hats and metallic pieces also topped off voluminous hairstyles at Christian Dior. ”It’s very sculptural, architectural,” said the look’s creator, Orlando Pita.
At Giambattista Valli, Pita encircled models’ heads with wide bands - in black, white or red - giving an ultra-feminine, almost modern-day flapper feel.
For the uninitiated, headbands are commonly referred to as Alice Bands throughout the U.K. (and some of the home nations). Named after the famous headbands worn by Alice in “Through the Looking Glass” (a.k.a “Alice in Wonderland”), they seem to be making quite the comeback - although we’d debate whether they were ever really gone.
A string of elocution lessons couldn’t compete with the posture-improving, prim-making effects of sliding on an Alice band. Deeply ingrained in our cultural memory, it’s inextricably entwined with notions of childhood innocence and trussed-up perfection - see its namesake, Alice in Wonderland and more recently, Charlotte York in Sex in the City and Bree Van de Kamp in Desperate Housewives…It had been about 15 years since I last wore one and I must admit, there was something quite resassuringly nostalgic about revisiting that era. In style terms, it instantly compeltes any outfit…

Like any good parent, we knew our Olive Scarf Headband was bound for greatness. Lo and behold, there it sits atop Krysten Ritter opposite Kate Bosworth in the new film “Life Happens”.
